Problem: This national supplier of quilts and home bedding products used a large, inefficient gas-fired steam boiler system to heat their warehouse facility. The required operating engineers, chemicals and constant maintenance for this high pressure heating system made it very expensive to operate. Rising gas prices and negative indoor air pressure problems resulted in high utility bills.
Solution: Energy efficient direct gas-fired space heaters were installed. They did a great job of keeping the entire building at 65°F and eliminating all the negative air pressure problems. During the first heating season, fuel usage was reduced by 62%. Other annual operating costs were reduced by over $300,000. Payback on the new heating system was less than one year.
